Comparative Structural Bridge Design

open in viewerThis project focused on creating the structural vehicular bridge design for a highway overpass. The design followed the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Specifications and the MassDOT and FHWA requirements. To support hand calculations, computer modeling programs, like Risa-3D, were used as tools. Along with the design of the superstructure and substructure, alternative girder designs were investigated and evaluated based on a set of established criteria. The proposed bridge design included a completed superstructure design, three alternative girder options, substructure evaluation and a cost analysis.
