Worcester Head Start, a program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides early childhood education to low-income families and their children. This project focused on station design for a mobile learning unit centered around science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), known throughout this report as a STEAM Bus. Using Head Start’s early learning outcome frameworks as a guide, our team utilized research, co-design, and teamwork to design four stations: Animals and the Seasons Mural, Interactive Tree Touchscreen, Worcester Transportation Mat, and a Ball Racing Ramp. After creating sketches of our stations, we made storyboards, to highlight experiences in the STEAM Bus, and developed recommended materials lists to aid Head Start in implementing these designs.
