Design of a multi-speed transmission for a FIRST robot

The objective of this project was to design and manufacture a multi-speed transmission for use on the 2000 WPI/ Mass. Academy FIRST robot. A robust, compact design was created that features simultaneous shifting of two separate transmissions using a single actuator. The device was modeled in Pro/Engineer and tested for strength, wear, and torque transmission efficiency. The final design was incorporated into the 2000 FIRST robot with the resulting flexibility giving the robot a significant advantage over its competition.
