PANTS (PANTS Application Node Transparency System) is designed to add transparent load balancing to a Beowulf cluster. To accomplish this task, several policies incorporating different load balancing ideals were developed. In order to set standards for best load balancing strategies, each policy was vigorously tested for performance improvement and scalability on the current fifteen node cluster. A detailed analysis was devised for each test, and recommendations were specifically formulated according to the strengths and weaknesses of each policy.
