Compact powered wheelchair design

Public

Wheelchair users face daily obstacles, such as wheelchair transport and maneuvering through congested spaces. Currently, there are no wheelchairs that effectively target both areas. This project designed and fabricated a prototype for a lightweight, foldable powered wheelchair. The unit incorporates a drive train, control system, and power supply to alleviate current wheelchair constraints. The prototype provides more than 30 minutes of travel. It weighs less than 29 lbs including a 10 lb removable battery and control pack.
