MPEG jitter

Public

Jitter is undesirable in multimedia. This project explores causes of jitter in the MPEG video compression standard with the hopes of reducing its effects. We conducted timing experiments for compression and decompression programs, examined the results in relation to GOP and quantization level used, and correlated temporal characteristics of video streams to this data. We show how changes of each variable affect the average encoding and decoding times as well as the jitter.
