Reducing the Temperature of Asphalt Pavements

open in viewerThis Major Qualifying Project was set up to examine the effects of high temperature on pavements. Once indentified the goal was to identify a phase changing material that could successfully be incorporated into the asphalt in order to lower the temperature when exposed to thermal radiation. Three samples, consisting of a control, geo-textile only, and geo-textile with paraffin, were created and subjected various tests utilizing thermal radiation to examine the effects of heat exposure.
