open in viewerAlthough a great diversity of stem cells can be isolated from the human body for research or medical purposes, their applications, ethics, and legalities are still not fully understood by many. This is especially the case for human embryonic stem cells, as there are deep and complex ethical implications regarding their isolation from human embryos. In this study, these issues are investigated as an excellent example of the interface between science and society. It is of the utmost importance that these potentially life-saving techniques and their legalities across the globe be understood by society to make educated decisions about their use.
