Thursday, August 20, 1931 Clear We left about nine this morning driving thru Hampton Beach, Salisbury, Newberryport, Ipswich Essex where Elise & I called on the Frank Burnhams. We found Mr Burnham, Gretta, Roy & Mrs Burnham. They seemed ever so glad to see us and it did bring back the old Choat Island days. Mr Burnham recognised me and she had not seen me for 30 years. Then we drove thru Glouster, East Glouster, Eastern Point etc. We stopped at a wharf in Glouster where a big Mackeral was catch 60,000 lbs had just come in. Then thru Manchester Beverly Farms etc to Boston then down the cape to Marion. We stopped at the Whittalls at 430. Betty said Percy had just called up asking if we had arrived. She called Percy on the phone again in Worcester. I told him I thought the Vollmers would go around the cape without us and so they persuaded Elise & I to stay. Little Deborah is a fasinating child of 3 she looks just as Betsey did when I first knew her. Talked with mother on the phone.
