Analysis of the DIG-1 cellular adhesion protein
PublicThe DIG-1 protein in Caenorhabditis elegans is involved in neurological development and may be a proteoglycan. Experiments including immunoblotting, western analysis, acid proteolysis and ammonium precipitation were conducted to examine the protein. Immunoblotting showed that antibodies could be used to recognize the protein's c-terminus, which is missing in the n1480 mutant. Western analysis revealed a fragment that might be useful in determining the structure of DIG-1. If this is the expected fragment it should contain the glycosaminoglycans common in proteoglycans.
