Public DepositedSATURDAY JUNE 19 1948 Elise and I went to Davenport. Ordered Nylon Screen curtains for sleeping porch. Moline's centennial Cellebration started today with a big parade. Many store windows have exhibits of old dresses, furniture, etc. etc. of old Moline. In afternoon we went to Dorrance Park. Port Byron and ate supper with the Black hawk hikers. From the June Reader's Digest The Reverend Peter Marshall, the Chaplain of the Senate, continues to delight Washington with his pungent prayers. Recently, Senators heard him plead: "Help us, O Lord, when we want to do the right thing, but know not what it is. But help us most when we know perfectly well what we ought to do, and do not want to do it." Quoted in Farm Journal
