PublicCaption: This Committee of prominent college presidents met here [Pittsburg] recently to selectrecipients of Gulf Oil Foundation 1977 Scholarships for children of Gulf Oil Corporation employees and for Minority Science and Engineering students in Pittsburg and Houston. Seated (L-R): Dr. Carl M. Hill, Hampton Institute in Virginia; Dr. Martha E. Peterson, Beloit College in Wisconsin; and Rev. Theodore M. Hesburg, University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Standing (L-R): Dr. Alexander Lewis, Jr., Gulf Oil Foundation President (not a member of the Selection Committee); Dr. George W. Hazzard, Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts; Dr. Edward D. Eddy, Chatham College, and Dr. William S. Pettit, Ursinus College, both in Pennsylvania. These scholarships are part of Gulf's Aid to Education Program under which approximately $3 million will be distributed to colleges and universities throughout the United States during 1977.
