PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe South African government and partnering non-governmental organizations have increasingly recognized the need to expand early childhood development (ECD) services. Foundation for Community Work (FCW), in addressing ECD in under-resourced communities, has proposed two new outreach models: (1) utilizing existing public space (schools, stadiums) for ECD programing, and (2) retrofitting a shipping container for use as an ECD resource hub. We collaborated with FCW, other ECD organizations, and residents of Vygieskraal, a settlement in Cape Town, to explore these models.
