Cloning and functional characterization of various PIB-ATPases
PublicHeavy metals are essential for the development and function of many organisms. One family of enzymes that transport metals, PIB-ATPases are found in organisms ranging from bacteria to humans. PIB-ATPases are classified into different subgroups dependent on the metal transported. Model enzymes from these different subgroups are needed to study these enzymes. This report focuses on the characterization of several PIB-ATPases and their applications as models for further studies. As a result of these studies, five possible models have been identified.
