THURSDAY DEC. 23 1948 There were some good Christmas Carol singing at the office this noon. Elise deocrated the Christmas tree today with Bill's help. [Insert: Christmas Greeting] Greetings to all at the impact of Christmas! may joy reign the same from Arctic to Isthmus. Good will to all men! (Save that unknown erratic who threw out the tinsel we had in the attic.} Here's peace to the line-up with parcels for posting, To dogs in despair when the turkey is roasting. To everyone starring in Sunday school dramas As Santa Claus, Snow White, or Wise Men on llamas. Let's cheer for poinsettias, in flannel or flower. For carols that rise from the hearth, and the shower; Let's cheer for the pudding no raisin or rum lacks, And for Dumber Halves handed some holly and thumb tacks. May mistletoe cure all your nuclear fissin (In parts of the South this was known as kin-kission) May your Christmas be gay and your New Year uproar'us. We're planning the same - though it's much too good for us. If you could pick, you might not choose This odd remembrance from the McHughs. But Alice Peek and Glenn, the tramp, Are pleased to risk a three-cent stamp.
