Design of a high-frequency RF coil for magnetic resonance imaging
PublicThis report describes the method and design of a high-frequency RF coil used for an MR imager with a magnetic field strength of 4.7 Tesla. The application of such a coil is for functional imaging of small-animal brain physiology. Rather than the traditional bird-cage coil design, this design utilizes microstrip lines as tuning elements in a resonator coil structure. The design was numerically simulated in HP HFSS and constructed and tested with successful results.
