A one-hour lecture will be hosted by the instructor. The topics covered include an introduction to marine biology, scientists in the field, and relationships between organisms including parasitism, competition, mutualism, and commensalism. The target audience of this OER is high school students who are interested in marine biology. The lecture includes a think-pair-share activity where students discuss graphs and figures relating to climate change, ocean temperature and coral bleaching. The guiding questions for this think-pair-share activity are “How does ocean temperature influence coral diversity” and “What is the effect of coral bleaching and the loss of symbiotic algae?” This material was created for an Animal Behavior course at Worcester Polytechnic license with Professor Marja Bakermans and is distributed under the CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license.
