Synthesis of a Potassium Sensing Azocrown Calix[4]arene

open in viewerCalix[4]arenes are a versatile class of supramolecular host compounds, and when derivatized with the proper chemical functionality they are capable of interacting with a wide variety of guests in solution. An azocrown-calix[4]arene in the 1,3-alternate confirmation was derivatized for use as a potassium ion sensor in a microfluidics blood analysis device.
