This report iterates on a previous MQP, improving the design for a kinetic rehabilitative-assisted mechanism for recovery from spinal cord injury (SCI) induced paralysis, with an accompanying artificial intelligence model to track the joint positions and obtain data on healing progress. This AI (Artificial Intelligence) model tracks the hand of the mouse without markers to analyze the movement pattern of the mouse to understand the recovery process. The design is adjustable to fit mice of varied sizes, and the linkage motion path and range of motion can be adapted for mice in various stages of the healing process. We believe that the novel combination of disciplines has the potential to increase the understanding and process of recovery from spinal cord injuries, as well as encourage future developments for applying a similar rehabilitative-assisted mechanism for use on humans.
