Optimizing the Electroporation of Ettlia oleoabundans Protoplasts
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerMicroalgae have the potential to be exploited as a biofuel feedstock due to their rapid growth and oil production. Ettlia oleoabundans can produce over 50% grams lipids/grams dry weight. The ability to transform microalga species will allow for further understanding of how they can be used to fuel America. Electroporation of E.oleoabundans protoplasts was explored in this project. The procedure of cell wall degradation and electroporation was optimized to promote survival and protoplast formation; however, no transformants were produced.
