Variable valve timing for an automotive engine

Public

The objective of this project is to design a variable valve timing (VVT) system for an automotive engine that improves upon existing technologies. A Honda VTEC valve train is modeled into Pro/ENGINEER and is analyzed for its valve motions at varying engine speeds. Based on the findings, a VVT system is proposed using a varying cam lobe and moveable rocker arms. This design enables the intake valves to be continuously variable in both lift and duration throughout all operating engine speeds.
