Student Work
Field Observation of Student Behavior in ASSISTments
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerWe examine the observed behaviors that students made while using a math tutor program. We then study in more detail three of these behaviors, which are Re-entering/Keeping Incorrect Answer, Adding Numbers with Fingers, and Waiting on Teacher. Then, we perform data analysis on our results to see if any behaviors hold significance. We find that demand for the teacher on one side of the room results in students on the other side of the room having to wait for assistance longer. We also find that regardless of using a tutor program, students still work with each other.
