A Robotic Platform for At-Home Ultrasound Diagnostic Imaging
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe field of telemedicine has grown significantly in the last several years and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has specifically highlighted the need for a variety of telemedical diagnostic tools. This project developed an at-home ultrasound diagnostic imaging system in the form of a 6-degree of freedom teleoperated robot designed around existing third-party portable ultrasound probes. Via the robot, the probe can be controlled remotely by a sonographer using a mobile website. Our design focuses on safety, portability, and ease of use. We have built a prototype and demonstrated the safety and efficacy of the proposed tele-ultrasound system.
