Zoom-in Musket
This “Kabyle” gun from Morocco dates from the 1700s or 1800s. Kabyle guns are usually similar to European muskets but considerably larger and with a distinctive fish-tail stock. However, this particular Kabyle gun is unusually short, 42 3/4" overall, while Kabyle guns are usually around 70" long. This suggests that the gun was a carbine, intended for use on horseback.
This musket wasn't just a weapon, but a bit of bling intended to show off the owner's style. The studded decoration is easily visible from a distance; there is also finely crafted detailing on the metal parts.
