I can't wait! There's gonna be cake and people...
But the people are cheap, so I probably won't get any cool presents. Oh well, that really isn't what matters, is it?
Nevertheless,
it should be pretty awesome. We're going to set up Smash Bros. Brawl on
a projector, and we're going to completely trash Drew's apartment!
(Well, not really. I'm tempted to, though.) I'll be sure to provide
lots of video footage for you all, because I'm certain that this will
be an event to remember.
I'm gonna be freaking twenty!
Oh,
and something WPI related--New Voices 26 is coming up, and I'm working
on the video aspects of it. Technical theater is tough--I've only ever
acted (and not terribly well), so it should be interesting to try to
run the show from behind the scenes. You see, New Voices is
this awesome series of amateur shows. Anyone can audition, work, submit
plays and set designs, and even direct! It's the perfect chance for all
you technical people to discover your artistic talent.
Maybe
next year I'll submit a play to the festival. I'm thinking of maybe
writing a love story--who can resist the appeal of young romance?
(Either that, or a play about stuff blowing up. Both are good.)

April 2nd: My Epic Birthday
Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Whoops
I don't remember starting a blog... who made all these posts? :P
So, anyways, over the time when I was gone, I did a lot. I mean... a lot.
Firstly,
I'm pledging APO. What's APO, you ask? It's a co-ed service fraternity,
although, it's not like a regular fraternity like... uh... the other
ones. There's no house, no crazy other Greek stuff, and it's not really
complicated. Basically, it's like a more selective community service
club, where you get to meet lots of people. I've already made a bunch
of friends and got to know a few other people better. They even kinda
taught me how to cook! Which is good, because I totally screw up
microwave cakes.
Plus, next year, I'mma gonna be living in the
new dorm on campus! It's really exciting. I can't wait to see what my
room will look like.
Also, now that I'm an IMGD major, I have to
take a bunch of humanities courses. This term, I have a Drama Workshop
and a Peer Writing Workshop. Looks like I'm going to be working a lot
at shops! Hahahaha. That was terrible.
Well, I'm going to class
now. I was hoping that this could be my first video blog, but I...
well, let's face it, I'm terrible with camera hardware. Looks like the
ATC (the people on campus who give you all the cool equipment) is gonna
have to teach me... again...

Video Games
Well, I figured I might as well share with you all a bit of insight
on what sort of video games I play. Actually, rather than do that, I'm
going to share my recommendations with all of you! I have a wide bunch
of systems and an average PC, so I'll try to keep all of the consoles
covered.
Let's see here... I think I'll start with the portable systems.
Sony PSP
-Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
Heck,
it's THE reason I got a PSP. Disgaea is a quirky, fun, and addictive
strategy game that can easily consume your life. Better yet, the
storyline is absolutely hilarious, and the story is rather deep. If you
can't get this game, try the PS2 version.
-Megaman: Powered Up!
It's
adorable. And it's classic gaming! How can you say no? There's so much
to do in one UMD, especially if you're a fan of the series.
-Star Wars Battlefront
It
came with my PSP. While the AI might be brain-dead, the gameplay is
top-notch, and it has a sort of pick-up-and play mentality. Plus, it's
freaking Star Wars. You gotta love it. Though, the space battles do
leave a bit to be desired...
Nintendo DS
-Pokemon
Yeah,
yeah, I'm into the "kiddie" games. I dare you to try and play this game
and NOT get addicted to it. It's tough. The DS games are the longest,
most involved titles in the series thus far.
-Sonic Rush Adventure
I'm
sure we all know that Sega's time has pretty much come and gone, which
is why I was excited about this game's playability. Sonic plays great
on the DS, as the touch-screen traveling games are a blast, as well as
the main levels. And some of the bosses are just EPIC. Seriously.
-Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
There
are actually 2 Castlevania DS games--I would recommend the first one.
Both are fantastic platform-adventure games that mimic the old Metroid
formula, and have plenty to explore and collect. Plus, the graphics
contain fantastic animations and effects. The Puppet Master boss, for
example, scares the living daylights out of me.
Xbox360
-Rock Band
Just buy it. It's fantastic.
-Geometry Wars
Freaking awesome and simple to play, Geometry Wars is a steal for only $5 or so.
-Guitar Hero 2
Get
this game so you can have the extra guitar for Rock Band. Oh, and it
has The Trooper on it. And Dead! So yeah. And Guitar Hero 3 isn't as
classic, anyways.
Nintendo Wii
-Super Mario Galaxy
The
true successor to Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy pretty much defines Wii
gaming. If you own a Wii, there's no reason NOT to have this game.
Plus, the musical score is astoundingly awesome.
-Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz
This
game can pretty much make a party. There are 50 minigames included, as
well as a full single-player mode. I highly recommend the "Red Light
Green Light" game--it's hysterical!
-Mario Strikers: Charged
Another
amazing party game. I really don't like soccer, but this game makes it
fun. Get 4 people together for maximum entertainment!
PS3
I don't own a PS3, but I will recommend Rock Band and The Darkness because I've seen both and they look/are amazing.
PC
-Unreal Tournament 2004
Can't
run UT3 on your old computer? Get the game before it! UT2004 was the
game that made me like shooters. It's way faster than Halo, and it's
got tons of maps and fun game modes. And the vehicles are amazing! If
you can't find it, you can download the demo off of the internet. Even
with only 2 levels per game mode, the demo is still fantastic.
-Portal
This
cake is not a lie. Portal is an entertaining puzzle game with a quirky
sense of humor and an amazing sense of physics. Just don't get too
attached to your companion cube.
-Guild Wars
Like MMORPGs?
Neither do I. But Guild Wars is fun, and there's no monthly fee. If you
wanna waste time with some buddies, it's a cool way to do it.

Photoshop
I don't care how much of my life it absorbs--I still like my photoshop class.
So...
I totally went clubbing for the first time in my life. I am proud to
report that I had more hair than any other guy I saw. Woot. Apart from
that, though, it was a gigantic waste of time. Oh well. At least I did
something.
Wooo... my hosting is down. How exciting!

It's Definitely Monday
Monday, Thursday... what's the difference?
So, I finally
brought my video camera up from home. I think I'm going to be
experimenting with video blogs and photography--I am, after all, signed
up for a photoshop/maya class.
Oh, speaking of which, I'm now an
IMGD major with the artistic... side? I'm not used to all these new
words, but I like the classes. Heh.
I need to find a camera
that can take pictures with hi resolution. I think I'm gonna have to
visit the ATC for that--they provide lots of hardware and special
techie stuff to those who need to borrow it. I gotta take some stock
photos so I can make lovely photoshop thingies. But no cameras I have
used so far can take nice hi-res pictures. I am saddened and troubled.
Maybe it's about time I invested in some useful stuff.
I'm gonna go eat breakfast now. OATMEAL, AWAY!
(Man, I'm sleepy...)

Vacation Decision 2008
After a vacation like this, I need a vacation.
Heh, it wasn't
bad or anything, I just wish there was more of it. Not that I mind
going back to school--it's just that I didn't get to accomplish as much
as I wanted to.
In other words, I didn't play enough Rock Band. That game is amazing.
My
grades turned out okay--my CS class didn't turn out so well.
Fortunately, my other grades were just fine, and I planned on taking
some E-Term classes anyways. Summer courses are really fun here--it's a
bit more relaxed, and you get more free time. I could probably commute
from home if I wanted to, but who knows--I might rent out an apartment
or dorm or something just for the fun of it.
For Christmas, I
got Rock Band, obviously, and other geeky stuff. Oh! And a coffee
maker. I loooooove coffee! It also makes tea, too... I like that. It's
really multipurpose!
Oh, and I've also decided to update this blog every Monday, so I don't forget about it.
And so you don't forget about it, either! :)

Of Being Amazing...
Sooo... things are great, I think. I have a music exam in about an
hour and a half from when I write this sentence. The music deptartment
here is pretty cool, especially for a technical school. The people are
friendly and the professors all have neat quirks that make their
classes somewhat interesting. Somewhat. Sometimes, I
can't help but fall asleep because all of the classes are in the really
warm basement. It might just be me and the fact that I drink too much
coffee and sleep too little. Who knows. But I try really hard to pay
attention, for the most part, and I think getting an A in the class
isn't just a possibility--it's a definite.
You could say I'm a musical genius, of sorts.
But
enough about me. Let's talk about me. Because Drew is boring and
stupid. And smelly. We shouldn't really write our blogs at the same
time, within earshot of each other. Sigh.
Oh, right, I'm not just a musical genius. I'm also a computer scientist.
Yeah, impressed, huh? Well, guess what? I can program in binary. I can
write something meaningful in 1's and 0's. Assembly class is actually
kind of cool in that aspect. I'm actually learning how the tiny little
bits of the computer works. Then again, we also learn things that are
somewhat... less useful. Like a certain code that always crashes, no
matter what. We had to make a program that used it.
So apart from being amazing... I'm tired. I wanna go to bed.
