Irish Flute Design Optimization
ÖffentlichHerunterladbarer Inhalt
open in viewerThis project sought to improve the intonation and ergonomics of Irish flutes and assess the feasibility of rapid-prototyping flutes. A rapid prototyping machine was used to replicate a Pratten-Style flute from a SolidWorks model. Frequency-based data were collected on several flutes including the prototype. Through isolation and analysis of each flute dimension, equations were developed to predict the dimensions of an intonated flute. These equations were embedded in a SolidWorks design table, facilitating the creation of a player-customized, well-intonated prototype.
