X-ray diffraction and neutron activation analysis of low explosives

公开

The goal of this project was to provide to the field of forensic science a detailed procedure for identification of the major components present in a wide range of low explosives and their burned residues. This identification would aid in the solving of crimes involving bombs and arson that lead to maiming, loss of life and destruction of property. The methods of this project involve experimental techniques available at WPI to complement additional techniques already in use at the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory in Sudbury.
