Low aspect ratio planar airfoils for MAV applications

Public

The goal of this project was to measure lift and moment coefficients of low aspect ratio wings at low Reynolds numbers. A sting was designed, which uses strain gages to find lift and moment within +.1N for lift and +.5 cm for center of location. Two rectangular wings of 10.2 cm (4") chord with aspect ratios of 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 were created for testing at Reynolds numbers from 10,000 to 40,000 (10-40 cm.) in water tunnel.
