Informing a Potential CBDC Pilot Study in New Zealand: Uncovering Public Perspectives
Öffentlich DepositedHerunterladbarer Inhalt
open in viewerThis project analyzes public perceptions of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) in New Zealand, a country researching CBDCs alongside 93% of central banks worldwide. We conducted five interviews with scholars and banking experts, 25 ad-hoc interviews with business employees, 50 public interviews, and field-tested an online survey. We found that digital currency awareness, cybersecurity concerns, and government distrust may impact public CBDC adoption. We identified opportunities for public CBDC usage and recommended strategies to further increase and evaluate CBDC awareness.
