Optimization of Process variables in the design of nanodrug carriers

open in viewerNanostructures are emerging as a promising drug delivery paradigm, revolutionizing areas of medicine in diagnosis, imaging and treatment. Alginate nanotubes combine the therapeutic effects of alginates as natural non-toxic polyacids which are widely used in the food industry and the uptake efficiency of nanostructures as drug carriers. Cross-linked sodium alginate and calcium chloride nanotubes were fabricated by template-assisted technique. Successful production of nanotubes yielded tubes with typical diameter, length and thickness of the order of 200-300nm, 10-30181m and 60-75nm respectively. The resulting nanosystems, may potentially target specific organs thus improving the efficiency of disease treatment, economic promise of pharmaceuticals and be used in Precision Farming.
