TY - RPRT A1 - Hepworth, Jaclyn Elizabeth AB - ErbB2, a receptor tyrosine kinase and member of the human EGFR family, is implicated in 30% of all breast cancers. Studies have recently shown that the Drosophila EGF receptor (DER) is structurally analogous to ErbB2. The transmembrane protein, Kek1, has been shown to bind and inhibit DER. By defining sequence elements important for this binding and inhibition, I hope to gain insight that may provide an opportunity to generate ErbB2-specific cancer therapeutics.
