The objective of this project was to gain experience with the stock market and learn trading strategies in a simulation setting so there is no loss of legitimate money. Throughout a 6-week period stock market simulation was conducted. Extensive research was performed by means of internet searching, text documents, referenced books aimed at digging into the inner workings of the stock market. The simulation was carried out using a program from the internet known as Investopedia Simulator where two different systems of trading (swing trading and buy and hold trading) were replicated, analyzed, and compared. Both strategies produced profit, where the swing trading strategy produced $3,347.59 (+6.7%) in profit and the Buy and Hold trading produced $2,439.60 (+4.88%) in total profit. The NASDAQ index increased 9.48% for that time period. The swing trading strategy also produced the profit in a consistent manner with no losses throughout the simulation period, as opposed to the buy and hold strategy which was in the negative since the beginning of the simulation and jumped a lot during the last week. After completing the simulation, one could feel more comfortable trading within the stock market and would go with a swing trading strategy over a buy and hold portfolio.
