Student Work
Universal second order controller
PublicThe objective of this project was to design and build a Proportional-Plus-Derivative analog controller. The controller produced has an on-board power amplifier, which allows for it to be a stand-alone device in a number of applications. In this case, the final device was tested on a solenoid vibrator unit, improving its response from 150 Hz to 400 Hz. This project also focused on the essentials of manufacturing a product. The resulting PCB design has a populated, low-quantity, unit cost of approximately $177. Care was also taken to insure that this design may be revised and adjusted for different applications without having to create a new PCB layout.
