Contact Lens Assistive Device
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe process of inserting contact lenses can be arduous for a person with an upper-limb amputation, limited mobility in their arms, or sensitive reflexes. Our project team pursued three designs for a device to hold open the eyelids so that contact lenses can be inserted with one hand. We developed working prototypes of each design and with approval from the Institutional Review Board we were able to test our devices on WPI community members to get feedback for future improvements.
