The project aims to reduce poverty in the Municipality of Benjamín Aceval through ecotourism in the nearby wetland. An aquatic plant expert was consulted to explore the wetland. Informal interviews with the mayor of Benjamín Aceval, the local conservation group, and residents of the nearby neighborhood were conducted to determine the social impacts of the wetland. The following 5 deliverables were created: 13 informational plant sign designs, 1 entrance sign design, an online plant database, 75 plant samples in the Herbarium of the UNA, and a project in the Cerrito school science fair. The signs will be installed by the Karugua Ha'e Tekove conservation group and the Municipality. Further work in this project could promote a guided tour of the wetland or register the area as a Ramsar site.
