This MQP developed the layout and structural design of additional space to WPI’s Kaven Hall to meet the Institute’s current and future needs. Alternative designs were compared and evaluated to determine the most satisfactory option. The new space and structural renovations were designed in accordance to local regulations, the ADA, and LEED Specifications. Seismic analyses for masonry construction investigated the existing building’s performance integrated with the new space. Lastly, a cost estimate and schedule were developed for the proposed construction.
