Promoting the Design of Buildings that Are Fire Safe and Sustainable

open in viewerThe sustainable building and fire protection industries have differing interests and ideals that present challenges in new building construction. We interviewed fire protection and sustainability experts to explore different incentives for fire safety and sustainability, and found most experts supported a more holistic approach to building design. We recommended that FPA Australia increase its communication with the sustainable building industry and promote awareness about sustainability to the fire protection industry by adopting a definition of sustainability suited to fire protection.
