The Selective oxidation of carbon monoxide in the presence of hydrogen for fuel cell applications

Public

This project investigated the kinetics of carbon monoxide oxidation in the presence of hydrogen as it pertains to fuel cell applications. A mixture of hydrogen and carbon dioxide gas was oxidized over a 0.48 wt. % Pt/AlO catalyst. Kinetic parameters for this process were measured. Reaction orders were calculated for each species present and were found to be 1 for oxygen, and -0.34 for carbon monoxide. A mechanism was proposed based upon this data.
