Omega-3 Fatty Acids and Inflammatory Bowel Disease
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerThis project investigates research surrounding the potential of the anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids to serve as a treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). A literature review of clinical studies of omega-3 fatty acids and IBD was conducted. It was concluded that insufficient evidence currently exists to prove that omega-3 fatty acids would significantly benefit all IBD patients. However, modifying the diet to increase omega-3 fatty acids is recommended. Educational brochures for patients and gastroenterologists were prepared for this purpose.
