Use of electronic purchasing applications in the construction industry

Public

The utilization of electronic purchasing applications and barriers to their adoption by contractors are investigated. The results of a questionnaire survey show that these applications are not widely used in the construction industry, with the exception of non-building contractors. Most of the barriers are to be found in the mismatch between the protocols of these applications and current business procedures by construction firms. The study concludes with a preliminary estimate of the potential savings offered by the considered applications.
