Community structure of Buttonbush Pond

Public

This study evaluates the community structure of Buttonbush Pond, a vernal pool located at the Massachusetts Audubon Society's Wildlife Sanctuary at Broad Meadow Brook. Data on the pond's vegetation cover, ground arthropod community, soil and water chemistry, and water depth were collected and used to determine the pond's approximate state of ecological succession. Management suggestions aimed at maintaining a suitable habitat for spotted turtles, wood frogs, and other important wetland species were made.
