Exploring introductory mechanics programs.

open in viewerThe IUPP report indicated that introductory university mechanics students rate lecture and homework as the two most valuable aspects of teaching physics. Interestingly, a literature search resulted in very little research devoted to the importance of homework in teaching physics. This paper reports, in tabulated form, an analysis of the homework solutions from eight different universities. The results include the use of calculus, symbolic math, the number of problems, and the number of figures in each.
- This report represents the work of one or more WPI undergraduate students submitted to the faculty as evidence of completion of a degree requirement. WPI routinely publishes these reports on its website without editorial or peer review.
