Smart Mechanical Backstop Using Axiomatic Design
Public DepositedDownloadable Content
open in viewerThe objective of this project was to create a mechanical backstop using Axiomatic Design principles that provides visual feedback for both speed and position of a pitch. Current speed and position recording systems on the market are expensive due to the electronics being utilized and therefore not accessible to many potential users. Our team tested and developed a smart backstop prototype that detects speed and position of a pitch. The backstop is composed of all mechanical systems and basic circuits to keep the cost of the device low, under $200.
