Design a net-zero and resilient building for heatwaves

Público Deposited

Our project goal was to design a net-zero and resilient affordable housing apartment building that meets the expectations of thermal comfort during heat waves. Through conducting surveys, we evaluated the effect of AC type on perceived thermal comfort, as well as perceived overall thermal comfort over a one-week period during a heat wave. We were able to use these results to guide our energy simulation regarding temperature setpoint and other energy solutions implemented in the building and ensure a net-zero status. The design approach focused on a flexible and efficient strategy for affordable housing units.
