Lunar base sustainability
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerA lunar base designed to operate over an extended period of time would be more practical if it were self-sustaining. The technology exists today to provide shelter, energy and oxygen to a fledging lunar base of six to ten astronauts. Careful design and integration of these systems along with waste, water and food management, would allow a small base to be independently sustainable. Sustainability would cut long term expenditures and provide the experience for an eventual Mars base.
