Design of a Mixing Chamber to Maximize Mixing Efficiency and Achieve a Homogeneous Polymer Dope Mixture
PublicDownloadable Content
open in viewerCytiva’s hollow fiber cartridges are used for filtration of macromolecules. The hollow fiber membranes production process, however, consists of a mixing step that needs to be optimized to obtain a homogenous solution thus improving the repeatability of the process. During this project, laboratory experiments and mathematical modeling were used to correlate input parameters to mixture homogeneity indicating that mixing speed and viscosity to have the greatest effects on homogeneity.
