Investigation of membrane bound protein activator of Cl dependent K cotransport of the human erythrocyte

Public

At present the precise proteins involved in the K-Cl dependent cotransport have yet to be identified. This project involved an investigation into possible proteins involved in the cotransport. Evidence was collected indicating the possibility of band 4.2 and band 5 being involved. N-1-pyrenyl malemide (NPM), a known K-Cl cotransport excitatory agent, which binds irreversibly, was used to label probable membrane proteins.
