Kinematic analysis and design of a sheet material gripping mechanism for the TRUMPF TC2020R Sheetmaster compact automation unit

The purpose of this project was to analyze and develop a possible solution to sheet imperfections caused by the sheet metal retrieval mechanism utilized on the TRUMPF TC2020R Sheetmaster Compact automation unit. The current design was analyzed using kinematic principles and the factors promoting the creation of sheet imperfections were identified. New functional requirements were developed for the process and a new concept was devised that will conceptually alleviate the problem.
