Flexible Learning Options for Disadvantaged Youth: An Investigation Into Alternative Education in the United States and Australia

open in viewerThis project investigated theories and practices commonly used in the academic re-engagement of disadvantaged youth and connected the Northern Centre for Excellence in School Engagement (NCESE) with alternative education organizations in the US. The team identified relevant professionals in the US, interviewed them, and invited them to participate in a workshop on alternative education organized with the NCESE. The work resulted in the identification of several widely used strategies directed towards the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of students.
