open in viewerThe goal of this project is to make a video game that can teach children (ages seven to nine) educational topics in the fields of mathematics and computing. In our game, WPI Part-Time Hero, the player controls a superhero who takes on tasks and challenges in the form of five minigames. Each minigame is focused on a specific topic in computer science or mathematics. In order to achieve our goal, we conducted testing that focused on the effectiveness of our game, in regards to how the game engages its audience. Specifically, we focused on studying the benefits of active learning, as well as reducing gender biases when educating children in the fields of computer science and mathematics.
